Da un incantevole posizione panoramica si affaccia su Palermo il complesso del convento di Baida.
Nel 1377 i Conti di Modica eressero una chiesa e un monastero affidandolo ai monaci benedettini di San Martino delle Scale.
DESCRIPTION: The monastery is located at about 6 kilometres from the centre of the town in the suburb of Baidafrom. The building is superbly situated in the hills and boasts views over the town of Palermo on one side and the hills on the other.
Negli anni ’80 del XX sec. i frati iniziarono un processo di ristrutturazione del convento, del chiostro e della chiesa cercando di adeguare quest’ultima ai nuovi dettami del Concilio Vaticano II, creando un’oasi di pace, serenità e riflessione
The site has had a religious origin since 1377 when the a church and monastery was built by the Counts of Modica that entrusted it to the Benedictine monks of San Martino delle Scale. Now the Monastery is run by the Franciscan friars.
